“HEARSAY” my only true country album: first ever VINYL release. Recorded on analog tape, now to be heard as it was intended.
Playing around for fun late at night in the studio with my musician friends led to a semi regular thing we liked to call “Don Williams / Irish Whiskey Night”; where I’d bring in a bottle of Irish Whiskey, we’d put on some old vinyl Don Williams Country albums and get in the proper mood, then we’d all hop on an instrument and I’d pull out a new song that I wanted to record like the smooth sounding Country Albums I love so much. We’d play it 3 or 4 times live and then sit back listenin’ and sippin’. At some point it turned into an album that I knew I had to finish and release someday. This is how it turned out:
Written during the wintertime of 2020-2021, I recorded this song at home and the talented Larissa Maestro added her lovely cello and vocal harmonies remotely, and the track was mixed by Eric Fritsch at Eastwood Studios and mastered by Alex McCollough at True East Mastering.
Available now on Bandcamp, and everywhere else June 18, 2021.
I recorded this at home back in April 2020 during the shutdown, and my longtime buddy/drummer Matt Crouse produced the track at his home studio ( with remote contributions from: Mike Jackson, Molly Jewell, Joe Martino, Alex McCollough)
This photo is from around the time I recorded it and the track sounds as moody as I felt most days walking around a deserted downtown Nashville week after week. ~SS
available now on Bandcamp, streams everywhere beginning 2.14.21
For two weeks in the summer we set up a mobile studio in the empty home of my Grandparents in Woodbury, Tennessee. Writing these songs has been a 15 year process and is a recording project I’ve dreamed about for years. Currently aiming for an early 2020 release; stay tuned here to find out more. You can also visit the Kickstarter page for previews of tracks and other behind the scenes info on the project. ~Stephen
